Feet First Walk to School WeekPosted December 10th, 2007 by Zoe Truell3 Mar 2008 - 8:00am 7 Mar 2008 - 5:00pm Location: Nationwide Feet First Walk to School Week is happening Monday 3 to Friday 7 March 2008. During Feet First week, children at participating schools are encouraged to walk to school with a caregiver, a friend or on a walking school bus. Special events are being planned for Walk to School Day on Wednesday 5 March. Walking to school is an easy way to 'do your bit' for the environment while getting exercise and fresh air at the same time. Cars produce more pollution (per kilometre) on short journeys when the engine is cold and the car keeps stopping and starting in traffic jams. The morning 'school run' is one of the most polluting journeys you can make. For more information go to www.feetfirst.govt.nz
