TV3 and TEAM Solutions resource on climate change
This is a resource TEAM Solutions has developed with TV3 which consists of a DVD of news clips
and raw footage and teachers resource booklet. It has exhaustive links to the NZ curriculum and includes
an integrated unit plan for year 12. TEAM Solutions (Bridget and Carol from there)
announced this resource at the teaching for Sustainability conference in wellington and they
will be launching it at a sec school in Auck on the 5th May 2008. The first clip on the DVD explains
what it is about and good to show schools. It is a free resource and the flier went to every
sec school.
The resource was made with Education for Sustainability and Media
studies as AN INTEGRATED RESOURCE AND HOPEFULLY A WAY TO GET TEACHERS
TALKING TO EACH OTHER ACROSS THE CURRCULUM AND OFFER an opportunity to
get different teachers involved in indirect action. This is hopefully a pilot and there will be more
CD's on different themes, See teacher notes, this one is on climate change. There is an
accompanying competition where students can submit there own news clip around climate
change and their action and the best willbe broadcast on TV3.
The flier is on TV3's website - see www.tv3.co.nz/sustainability . We have trialled it with
one school to look at technical issues and also the need for integrated learning around both
sustainability and the issue.
We hope this is useful and if teachers contact TV3 there could possibly be another run of
the resource ( all on recycled paper).
Let Bridget Glasgow know (b.glasgow@auckland.ac.nz ) if you have any other questions.
Key words: climate change, media studies, television, curriculum. (Submitted by Roger Waddell on behalf of TEAM Solutions).
